Acrylic on US Army issued Battle Dress Uniform. Dimensions unknown.
So I had a bad day. I found this old BDU in a local thrift shop for 3 bucks. I cooped myself up in the studio and got crackin. Took about 5 hours to finish but I'm pretty happy with it. Good distraction from my real world problems too, I might add.
Here's one for the soldiers who gave great sacrifices for the rest of us.
comments welcome, except on the issue of war. I'm not here for a debate, just posting a painting.
but if i'm only talking about the painting then i love the idea to have painted it on a jacket, that's so original and really a different take on using a "canvas." I love unconventional paintings like this that are unusual shapes and on unusual surfaces, it reminds me of the one you did on the skateboard so it seems like you're very imaginative in this area, keep up the good work!
and just another note on the symbolism that i forgot to add- I really like how it's painted on an empty, open jacket...kind of like that's the story that it contains inside, and the person who was meant to be inside that's now missing.
oks, um...the clouds and flames look awesome, you really did a good job there. the blue sky seems uplifting and patriotic...like propaganda. And i hope the soldier's hat means that he's dead and gone to hell. That's not commenting on war is it? Im talking about the painting...
I like how the background has diagonals in it yet the focus is vertical. Nice touch.
I love your paintings on "random stuff", and it's always interesting to see what you do next. This one, I never would've pictured it, if I hadn't seen it. It's truely a piece of art.

Very interesting canvas... I wear the Air Force version of that (same thing)... it's great mini-mural as well... I'm sure it wasn't easy to paint on that... it's just beautiful.
